So This Is The New Year.

If your life is a book, with an unwritten future, than I guess a new year is a new chapter or at least a new page. A new episode, ready to be written. So here I am, looking at the empty pages of my calendar, wondering what is gonna come my way. As the past is already written, our future is determined by the happenings of our past. So this new year will be a continuum of the last one, in one way or another.

During the last year I have been busy playing and recording music with my bands Vogue and Heartattack Radio. For the new year, I will continue to build on that. Vogue has recorded two demos, two seven inches and one full length record in the past two years. All those recordings will soon see daylight on a cd, released by Holy Shit Records. As all of our releases have sold out, this new cd might give a new crowd the chance to get to know us and our songs. We will celebrate this new release with a bunch of shows during March and April, including a one-week-tour with Reproach through Germany, Sweden and Denmark in April. We are not playing shows in January and February cause me and Bounce will be exploring Europe and Asia in the meantime.

Heartattack Radio started in the summer of 2007. Since then we have recorded and selfreleased two demos, toured the UK, played a bunch of cool shows in Belgium and toured Europe for 3 weeks in 2008 with Heartbreak Stereo from Finland. For 2009 our goal is to record and release our debut album "SAIL FREE", tour the UK again and off course do another City Rats tour after summer.

In a few weeks I'll leave home to roadie for STATIC THOUGHT across Europe. They are a brilliant young band on Hellcat Records and we have become friends during their last European tour. They take me on tour for a month, through the UK, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Croatia, Holland and Belgium. I decided half a year ago to go on this tour cause I had nothing to stay home for during that period. I love travelling, seeing countries, meeting old and new friends, seeing shows every single day...So why would I say no to this offer...

Right now I do have a few things I would stay home for. First of all the girl that has shown me what it is to be in love. We had a really crazy year, good and bad times, but we survived it all and I believe it's meant to be we're still here together. I know I will miss her a lot during this tour, but I know I will regret staying home as well if I skip this opportunity. I will miss a bunch of cool shows, such as my hero Chuck Ragan at Bar Mondial. I will also miss my own bands every single day, cause nothing hurts me more than watching a band every night having the time of their lifes on stage, while your band could have stand there as well.

I know my bands will be waiting for me and we will continue as soon as I'm back.
I know bands will come and play Belgium again one day and in the end a month of touring is much more worth than seeing one single show of a band you like. I hope this girl will be still here for me when I return home. I really do. I realize it's not easy being in a relationship with a travellin' man like me, but I will try to make it right the days I'm home. We must follow our heart.

I don't have anything scheduled for the rest of the year. No job nor tours, yet. I just wanna do one more band that me and a friend have been talking about for a while. It's a dream to be in a band with Sam of The Heartaches/Enemy Rose and we made ourselves promise we would start rehearsing this year. We wanna play something in between The Explosion, The Gaslight Anthem and The Hold Steady. Fingers crossed this band will see daylight soon.

So for now, I just take the day as it comes and I will wait and see where the waves are taking me. I'm sailin'free and that's all I ever dreamed of. I'm a happy man.
