VOGUE tourmemories part 3.
Leavin Prague didn't feel that bad, knowing another capital city was waiting for us: Vienna! I can't remember that I had been to Austria before, so I was kinda stoked to visit this country. No surprise the nature was simply beautiful (see picture above). We were welcomed at the singer of FEEDING TIME his flat. It sure was nice to relax for a few hours, check our emails, watch some television, eat some pasta and then go out skating. After a few hours of rest, we drove to the venue, which actually was just a rehearselroom in an old factory. No problem, cause VOGUE plays ALL places. In our existence we have played basements (berchem), youth hostels (prague), living rooms (osnabruck), flats (warschau), farms (osnabruck), pubs (everywhere), big venues (hof ter lo), houses turned into venues (lintfabriek!), festivals (ieper)...Anyway, we arrived way too early, so we split up and went down town. Me and Jojo skated to the city bridge, had some durum, followed some goodlooking females and sat down by the river. It reminded me a lot of London, but more peaceful. The other guys went to the "foor" (amusement park) and had a good time as well. Coming back to the venue there were a lot of kids waiting for the show to begin. We had a few beers, smokes and talkings with the locals. As soon as Dj Danny plugged his Ipod into the sound system, all hell broke loose. Numerous hits were pomped through the speakers, going from "captain jack" to "eins zwei polizei". Pretty funny realizing the whole vogue tour crew was dancing in the small room, with all the locals watching and slowly partying along. We were all sure this would become a night to remember...which it sure was.
Local heroes FEEDING TIME opened the gig with a pretty good coverset including TIED DOWN (NA) and the Beastie Boys party classic. I rarely lose my mind during sets of bands I don't know, but it happened that night (pic above). Jan make some dude bleed from his head and later on during the VOGUE set, he hit that same guy under the eye...causing some more bleeding. A band called NOTHING TO LOSE played next. Missed most of their set because I was trying to catch some air before we had to play. It must have been 40 degrees inside the room, no shit. Jan drank a half bottle of Jagermeister before we had to play, which caused nervosity during our soundcheck. We were all claustrophobic setting up our gear. Once we started playing, we just killed it. Vienna seemed to be into VOGUE and Vogue sure was into Vienna. The room was way too small, filled with way too many people, but no one cared. We played In Hell (DS) as well that night. And the party wasn't over yet...
After the show, we all were ready for the afterparty. The room got cleaned up, more beers were wasted and we got into the van to the city center. The first club we entered with about 20 people who came along from the show. In the end we didn't really need that much people to get the party going again. That's the cool thing about playing in VOGUE: behind the band, we're all good friends and partymates as well (see picture above). More jagermeister was brought into the club by Jan, more dance moves were invented, more clubs were visited, ... and a lot more happened later on. Sometimes you gotta call on the golden rule "What happens on tour, stays on tour" and that's exactly what I'm gonna do here. This is where the story ends for the people who weren't there. The picture below is another reflection of the mood we were in...A Black Flag song suddenly starts playing in the back of my head..."I was so..."
